Dynamometer Technician
Our customer located in Farmington Hills, MI is looking to fill the role of Dynamometer Technician for a 1-year contract. This position has a pay-scale range of $24-$28 per hour, depending on experience.
Basic Function:
Under the direction of a laboratory manager and/or product engineer, the primary responsibility of this position is to setup or fabricate test fixtures and perform laboratory test procedures for internal customers. And also, perform laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
Job Specifications:
The general responsibility of this position is to support the activities of the engineering groups and responsibilities of the laboratories by performing the following activities:
- Engine dynamometer set-up and operation. Including engine fixture, engine maintenance, instrumentation, performing test cycles, and collecting & preparing test data.
- Support instrumentation calibration by maintaining the instrumentation / calibration tracking database and performing instrumentation verification.
- Assemble and configure measurement instrumentation using Dasylab (LabVIEW), perform measurements and prepare data and test reports.
- Perform machining of test fixtures using shop equipment such as; vertical mill, lathe, band saw, MIG/TIG welder, drill press, shear and brake.
Requirements:
- Possess at least high school degree (or equivalent) and 2 year Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Have minimum 2 years applicable experience in a test laboratory environment.
- Capability with measurement instrumentation.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems.
- Mechanical and fabrication skills.
- Machine shop capabilities and experience.
- Willingness to learn and enhance existing skills.
- Proficiency with common PC software such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to organize test data and generate test reports.
- Have knowledge of the TS16949 quality system to support job responsibilities.
- Have experience coordinating and facilitating several tasks.
- Have experience estimating time to complete tasks.
- Desired experience with Lotus Notes.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal direction is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
